Welcome to those of you who decided to take us up on our ab and squat challenge for the month! If you’re wondering what the heck we’re talking about wander over to our March Monthly Update blog post and scroll to the bottom…it’ll catch you up. So we’re adding a new post about it (hopefully) each day this month. The idea is that we’re going to share our immediate thoughts and reactions (or whining and complaints) each day as we progress through March. Lydia is in italics, Annie is regular font. Just hoping we survive it!
Sunday completed and doing okay! I think the fact that I had to run 10 miles offset my ab and squat challenge nicely. I had something else to obsess and worry about which took the focus off of this challenge. Back to yesterday though…it seems that I made it 2 whole days before I screwed up. After looking at the numbers again today, I realized that I did 15 more sit ups than necessary yesterday. 15!! It was supposed to be 5 sit ups but my eyes read 20. Now, I’m not the overachieving type so I immediately saw this as a waste of some good down time. Suffice to say, I will not be making that mistake again. Sit ups and crunches went great today. Squats are still a pain in the butt…literally. I’m to the point where I take little micro breaks and, even at that, by the end I’m out of breath and ready to curl up on the floor to cry.
As you just heard from Annie, we had a long run today. Which marks this the first day of the challenge that we also had to run a million miles. The run was pretty fun…we put up a couple videos in our insta story if you’re bored and wanna watch us make fools of ourselves. Back to the challenge today, it was definitely a mental game for me, more than a physical struggle. The idea of 40 squats, 10 sit-ups, and 25 crunches is much worse than the actual task.
Love this article from Running with Ollie. It gives a bunch of tips for beating the mental game…which most days is my biggest struggle.
Now on to day 5!!!
