Ab and Squat Challenge – Day 6…I Was Dreading This Day

Welcome to those of you who decided to take us up on our ab and squat challenge for the month!  If you’re wondering what the heck we’re talking about wander over to our March Monthly Update blog post and scroll to the bottom…it’ll catch you up.  So we’re adding a new post about it (hopefully) each day this month.  The idea is that we’re going to share our immediate thoughts and reactions (or whining and complaints) each day as we progress through March.  Lydia is in italics, Annie is regular font.  Just hoping we survive it!

March 6

Well, it turns out, 50 squats is a lot.  A Lot.  A LOT!  Lydia and I did our challenge together at the gym today.  The crunches and sit ups still felt pretty good. My abs were a tiny bit sore from yesterday, but in a good way.  But, OH MY SQUAT!! 50 is too many.  Nobody should ever have to do that amount (and by nobody, I mean me).  Lydia whipped them out like nobody’s business.  By the time she was done I was still struggling on something like number 30.  When I finally finished you would think I had completed some epic race, I was huffing and puffing like a madwoman.  Day 9 is a rest day.  I’m going to focus on that…day 9, day 9, day 9.

This was the worst! Why did we think this was a good idea?! 50 squats!!! That being said, we did them. All. I definitely felt the burn and had to push through. The sit-ups were no biggie…especially after what seemed like a million squats. We decided that although the sit-ups don’t seem like much (yet), it has to be beneficial to be committed to doing something ab related every day…right?!

  1. If you’re ever feeling slightly crazy or fancy a challenge – you should try the 1k challenge. It’s 200 reps of 5 exercises of your choice focussing on one body area. Eg. lower body/legs/bum – 200 squats, 200 lunges etc. See how long it takes you! Your body will be crying the day after. Tip – use low weights, high reps until you reach 200!
