Welcome to those of you who decided to take us up on our ab and squat challenge for the month! If you’re wondering what the heck we’re talking about wander over to our March Monthly Update blog post and scroll to the bottom…it’ll catch you up. So we’re adding a new post about it (hopefully) each day this month. The idea is that we’re going to share our immediate thoughts and reactions (or whining and complaints) each day as we progress through March. Lydia is in italics, Annie is regular font. Just hoping we survive it!
Okay, today actually felt pretty good. I think after experiencing yesterday just coming off a long run, my day today was bound to be an improvement. Still no butt to speak of and definitely no abs, but things are feeling easier. This is kind of exciting for me as I’m seeing the numbers go up but actually feeling the pain go down. It’s kind of odd because I’ve never, ever, ever felt confident with squats. I’m really starting to feel okay about them…not fantastic…but okay. Also, tomorrow we only have 5 of each exercise. Five!!! Feeling very confident about that.
The best way to describe how the challenge went today is simply to quote my 5 year old son. “You should stop doing that.” At squat number 55 and sit-up number 30, I totally agreed. Awe out of the mouths of babes…am I right?! Other than the lack of encouragement from my child, today felt really good. My squat form is getting easier to maintain and my abs are feeling tight and strong, even if they’ll forever be hiding in their comfy well insulated belly.
