Day 17 – Happy (and a little sore) St. Patrick’s Day!!!

Welcome to those of you who decided to take us up on our ab and squat challenge for the month!  If you’re wondering what the heck we’re talking about wander over to our March Monthly Update blog post and scroll to the bottom…it’ll catch you up.  So we’re adding a new post about it (hopefully) each day this month.  The idea is that we’re going to share our immediate thoughts and reactions (or whining and complaints) each day as we progress through March.  Lydia is in italics, Annie is regular font.  Just hoping we survive it!

March 17

It’s St. Patrick’s Day! Green?…check, 10k?…check, aches and pains?…double check.  Soooo turns out day 17 of our ab and squat challenge isn’t so fun after a 10k.  Everything felt fine after the race, it was the 60 squats later on that did me in.  After our race I was in rest mode so, gonna be honest, jumping into our challenge did not sound great.  Resting every 5 squats wasn’t an option…it was a necessity.  However, I did it, it’s done. Now, seeing as I don’t drink beer, I’m going to go celebrate in a much better way…chocolate!!

Yeah so a 10k on St. Patrick’s Day was super fun…completing the ab and squat challenge, not so good. I decided it would be a good idea to take a nap after the race, which was amazing. But getting the energy to do the challenge made me dig deep. Deep into my “dedication” reservoir…which has been pretty shallow. Although I did it and it wasn’t nearly as bad as I’d imagined. I think that’s one of the most valuable things I’ve gained from this challenge, is the determination to complete the workouts even though I really don’t want to and have every reason not to. Now on to day 18…
