Welcome to those of you who decided to take us up on our ab and squat challenge for the month! If you’re wondering what the heck we’re talking about wander over to our March Monthly Update blog post and scroll to the bottom…it’ll catch you up. So we’re adding a new post about it (hopefully) each day this month. The idea is that we’re going to share our immediate thoughts and reactions (or whining and complaints) each day as we progress through March. Lydia is in italics, Annie is regular font. Just hoping we survive it!
May 24 & 25
Ouch, ouch, ouch!! Turns out, 65 squats two days in a row makes for a tender rear end. I feel like I powered through them like a champ, but had some serious regrets later on today. Overall I’m feeling really good though. Lydia and I are going into a two week taper for our half marathon now which will be soooo nice. I gotta be honest, the combo of squats and long runs hasn’t been my favvy. The biggest change I’ve noticed throughout this challenge is how quickly I can motor through squats now…and maintain (relatively) good form. If at any point my butt wants to thank me by, oh you know, appearing…I wouldn’t complain!!
“How many more days do I have to do this?” This is the continuous thought while I’m doing 65 squats…again. After I finished I looked at tomorrow, 85?! Are you kidding me? All that whining aside, I was able to whip out these bad boys with relative ease. The sit-up portion of this challenge has been very easy. The majority of the days I’ve added extra crunches, sit-ups, and on a bunch of days I’ve done a few minutes of planks too. I have mixed feeling about nearing the end of this challenge, I’m ready to be finished but am just beginning to see some results. My guess is that we’ll talk ourselves into something even worse.
